ABOUT BISHOP
cast out of heaven, lucifer split himself into eight fragments in order to survive the fall. these eight "seeds", as they're called now by those who know of their existence, were scattered across the earth. exposed to humanity slowly, over centuries, with one sole purpose: to reunite in one vessel, and allow him to return. bishop is the former host of the second seed, and the current host of the fourth.

PERSONALITY
laid back, whimsical, a little unhinged. for someone who carries a fragment of the devil with him everywhere he goes, bishop is anything but intimidating - except for when he wants to be. he rarely takes anything seriously, and he's the type of guy who can and will kill with zero hesitation and then text someone to ask if they want to go get mall pretzels while the blood is still drying on his hands. he's an anomaly, an exception to a rule and he knows it, which may or may not have done a little something to his ego.

maybe he's not anything like a god, but the devil was an angel once.

HISTORY
before rush was the fourth, he was the second. exorcised as an infant, rush was spared from death by a kind seminarian who believed killing a child, former host or not, to be a step too far for the church. this mercy was carried out in secret - a child given new life (and new guardians), an obituary printed, and no black stain upon a holy ground.

the thing is, people talk. people always talk, rumors spread, and nothing ever stays truly hidden from those who are meant to find it. twenty years later, rush bishop decided he should have had a say.

twenty years later, he found the fourth seed.

THE SEEDS
eight seeds, eight hosts, and seven too many. when a human comes in contact with one of the seeds, the influence and essence of lucifer takes root in them. through quests for power, a desire for vengeance, a hunger for revenge, the seed amplifies the worst of their traits while amplifying their abilities, and ultimately draws them into a g̷a̶m̶e̷ of cat and mouse with the seven other seeds.

the rules of the game are as follows:
• in order for lucifer to reemerge, one dominant seed must kill all the others and absorb their essence.

• once a seed is awakened in someone, they are immortal unless killed by another seed host, or the seed is exorcised. some exceptions may apply.

• once a seed roots in a host, a mark surfaces on their body by which other hosts can identify them.

• if a host is killed by another host, their seed is taken by the victor. however if the killer is exorcised, both seeds separate again and re-enter the pool.

• seed hosts have enhanced senses and abilities, which increase with each seed they absorb. each host manifests their additional abilities uniquely. if the seed is exorcised from a host, the host no longer has access to these abilities and loses their immortality.

• the church is responsible for attempting to battle the re-emergence of satan by purifying hosts with exorcisms, and attempting to protect the removed seeds, preventing them from finding new hosts.

• hosts who undergo exorcisms are routinely killed afterwards, as they are perceived to be "weak" to the seeds, and the church wants no risk of re-seeding, despite there being no proven heightened risk of this after an exorcism. no known evidence, anyway.

• the older hosts, who have lived the longest, recognize one another by the order in which they first emerged ("the first one", "the seventh one", etc). this name is passed on to all future hosts of that particular seed, even if they do not possess their original memories.

• seeds that have been through several hosts may, at times, remember parts of those lives in a sense of deja vu.

• seeded folk also have an unstable connection to one another, like a hivemind, which was only recently discovered when the final seed came into play.
